NASCAR AUDIENCE RISES

THE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY CORPORATION REPORTS A GOOD SECOND QUARTER

he International Speedway Corporation has filed returns for the second quarter of 2015,
revealing that attendance at NASCAR Sprint Cup races was up in comparison to the same
period last year. ISC reported a nine percent increase in attendance at Talladega in May
and a second consecutive sellout for its Cup race at Auto Club Speedway in California
in March. There was also an increase in the crowd at Martinsville, although the June 14
race at Michigan International Speedway was down by three percent, which may have been related
to uncertain weather conditions. Attendance was
also marginally down for the races at Richmond
and Kansas. The numbers reveal that there are a
significant number of first time buyers and that the
retention rate is growing as well, which means that
NASCAR is making significant progress in a market
where generally sports attendances are dropping.
ISC has been investing heavily in new technology
at its raceways, reducing the seating capacity at a
number of tracks in order to make space for more
fan-friendly facilities.
