Of the three Alfa 33s dotted around on display at the 2015 Retromobile, the 1968 Tipo/2 Daytona ‘Coda Lunga’ is the one that got our juices flowing.
This spectacular long-tailed Alfa Romeo – hence the Coda Lunga nickname – has a highly distinguished motor racing history, taking a class victory at Daytona 24 hours in 1968, and going on to score many subsequent podium positions, including a second place in the Targa Floria.
Just 28 Alfa 33/2s were built, with this example surely being the most desirable. It’s for sale at the 2015 Retromobile, but if you have to ask the price, sadly you probably can’t afford it!
