Grosjean says Renault reliability and performance are unacceptable

 

Lotus driver Romain Grosjean is apparently becoming increasingly frustrated with the situation at his troubled team this season.
Before the start season, video footage circulated on the internet depicting the Frenchman slamming his hand on a tool bench as the serious problems with the new E22 car became clear.
Grosjean played that down at the time, ”It was a joke with the mechanic and a camera took the picture and it went everywhere.”
But now at the post-Bahrain Grand Prix test, after teammate Pastor Maldonado suffered Renault “P U related” issues on day one, Grosjean’s mileage on day two was limited to just 16 laps, again with “Power Unit failure”.

The 27-year-old is sounding increasingly frustrated. He told Auto Hebdo, “I hope that Renault will improve in terms of reliability and performance because today was not acceptable.”
”We were hoping for a good day’s testing with a programme based on aerodynamic work. Unfortunately, we struggled with Power Unit issues from the beginning, even when the car was able to run.”
“We are expecting more,” Grosjean added. ”Renault has said that in China and Barcelona there will be changes, so we wait.”
Lotus trackside operations boss Alan Permane was equally frustrated at the end of the final day of Bahrain testing, “The Power Unit failed to work correctly [Wednesday].”
“We managed to do some very limited running to do some aero mapping work but at about mid-afternoon the PU failed completely which meant the end of running and the end of very disappointing two days. “ (GMM)
